Red Queen starts out as you expect--typical futuristic dystopian society, people with weird superpowers, and a societal divergence. However, our heroine, Mare, is not what we expect. Unlike other dystopian, teen series, this heroine comes across much more real. We can all see ourselves in her and how she finds herself. She is selfish like we are. She's scared as we all are. She's intimated by herself. And, not to spoil anything, but she's susceptible to pretty boys and the idea of being a hero--kind of like we all are.
