Steve Martin can do everything! From playing Bluegrass to writing plays. The main work of this collection, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile", is full of easy laughs and more cerebral humor. It involves the meeting of Picasso and Einstein at a small Parisian bar and the conversations that ensue between them and the other patrons. Toward the end they receive a surprise visit from Elvis. A lot of dramatic literature is less interesting to read than to see, but this is all fun. Of the other plays in the collection, my favorite was "WASP". It is a very absurd play commenting on the American family. Through the silliness we find moments of deep power and vulnerability. I would recommend this for fans of the theatre and anyone who enjoys a good laugh.
An imagined meeting between Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein in 1904 examines the impact of science and art on a rapidly changing society
