Reading this book is like the car wreck you can't look away from combined with the juicy gossip you don't want to stop listening to. There is a guilty pleasure to rooting for the main character, who is just not a very good person. She's a beautiful model who through a freak accident becomes hideous. She's someone that used to have the world revolve around her and now no one wants to look at her. I'm not a huge Palahniuk fan, but this book is a departure for him. It's more fun and less about the horrible, shocking twist at the end than his other books. I would recommend this for readers who have both a dark sense of humor and a dark sense of curiosity. It should be noted that the content is not appropriate for younger readers.
