I can't remember the last time I read anything this intricate that at the same time was so vague that it compelled me to keep reading. This book has enough power hungry factions in it that George R.R. Martin would politely golf clap after putting it down. While more of the story does follow 15 year old Paul Atreidies, you do get the inner thoughts of all the other major characters as well. The majority of the action takes place on Arrakis, a desert planet seemingly void of life except for behemoth man eating worms that are drawn to any vibrations in the sand. Why does anyone live there, you ask? The Spice! Make sure you have a glass of water next to you when you read this, you're going to get thirsty.
A new edition of the award-winning science-fiction classic follows the adventures of Paul Atreides, the son of a betrayed duke, who is given up for dead on a treacherous desert planet and adopted by its fierce, nomadic people, who help him unravel his most unexpected destiny. Reissue.
