was die modern en Reproduktionsmethoden so sehr erleichtern, habe ich widerstanden, da die Farbung zwar ein fUr die Untersuchung oft notwendiges und unersetzliches Hilfsmittel ist, deren Resultate in ihrem eigentlichen Wesen aber nicht beruhrt. Die einfach graue Tonung konzentriert die Aufmerksamkeit des Beschauers ganz von selbst auf den eigentlichen Kern der Sache. Die Entwicklung ist in der Art dargestellt, daB sie von den aufeinanderfolgenden Stadien jedesmal ein Gesamtbild entwirft, welches erkennen laBt, was immer neu hinzukommt und wie sich das vorhandene umgestaltet. Die Abbildungen aber sind, wo es wunschenswert erscheint, fUr einen langeren Zeitraum der Entwicklung zusammen gefaBt und so nebeneinander gestellt, daB sie die Fortbildung im ganzen oder die einzelner Organe und Korperteile auf einmal uberblicken lassen.
