Bird Box is a novel I picked up on a whim, but I am so glad that I did. Without giving too much away (which is difficult with this one), the plot focuses on a woman named Malorie and her two children while she journeys down a twenty or so mile stretch of river. The catch? They are all blindfolded to protect their lives. The story is told on a constantly shifting timeline as the scene will switch from Malorie's current situation to the events leading up to not only her fate but the world's. Josh Malerman's writing is what really shines here. The amount of suspense and sheer tension within these pages is astounding. For anyone looking to get their heart rate up, you found your book.
In a world where no one can go outside for fear of something terrifying that when seen drives people to deadly violence, single mother Malorie and her two children must attempt a terrifying twenty-mile trip downriver while blindfolded.
