I wrote this book about the 35 years I spent in the U.S. Forest Service. Everyday jobs sometimes turned into adventures of pride or sadness of loss of friends. My pets, Stag, my dog, and Snooper, my horse, often accompanied me and helped along the way. I encountered wildlife daily including: elk, deer, bear, cougar, eagles, hawks and the Spotted Owl. Always peeking out from under rocks and climbing trees were the chattering small ones: the squirrels, and chipmunks. The weather could be hot and dry or cold and snowy here in the Pacific Northwest Cascade Mountain Range. Rivers might need to be crossed on a log with the waters raging underneath from Spring runoff. The days were never dull but rather full of people and wildlife.
