Overview

Lydia Maria Child was an American abolitionist, women's rights activist, Native American rights activist, novelist, journalist, and opponent of American expansionism. Her journals, both fiction and domestic manuals, reached wide audiences from the 1820s through the 1850s. Originally published in 1835, this 1845 edition is revised and corrected by the author. Fifth Edition. First volume only. This volume has been rebound, now in brown boards with thick black tape encasing the spine, edges, and corners creating a quarter-bound look. Page edges show water damage, are darkened with age, and the spine has a tilt. Text block is also taped in at the front few pages with thick white tape. Pages have water damage, foxing, spotting throughout but are unmarked. Binding surprisingly solid although visibly strained around threads.
