"My name is Tom Garvey, and I am lucky enough to work where I would hang out for free. Like many of our customers, I am a collector and rabid reader. I have a passion for the esoteric, like records that have only been heard by the people that recorded them, or rare street photography books that document life in mid-twentieth century America. In fact, I was inspired to become a street photographer myself because of Robert Frank's incredible book The Americans, which I found at Half Price Books! I have worked all over the Chicago District in the last several years, and each store has had something different to offer. Here at Vernon Hills, we have a staff that has a unique concentration of artists, photographers, and musicians that would love to trade recommendations with you. We work here because we love the things we sell, and we want to help you find that inspiring book that will change your life like The Americans changed mine. Come on in and tell us what you love! We'd love to help you find it."
