Reuse

You may already know that we reuse the books, movies and other items you sell to us on a regular basis, but we also donate overstock inventory to nonprofit agencies around the world. When you sell to Half Price Books, rest assured that your merchandise will have a well-extended life with a new owner, whether it’s found on our shelves, on the HPB Marketplace or in the hands of children at your local library.

We reuse, recycle and resell resources in our continuous effort to keep books and other entertainment in circulation and out of landfills, but our environmental philosophy doesn’t end there. We’ve been a proponent of eco-friendly internal operations since 1972 and we continue to make efforts to reduce the company’s carbon footprint in the following ways:

  • Constructing each store with 100% recyclable carpet as well as environmentally sensitive paints and other materials
  • Installing light and heat repellant window tint in stores, making us eligible for energy code rebates
  • Using diamond-polished concrete and ceramic tile in stores that take non-chemical maintenance
  • Purchasing many recycled office supply products and prints all company stationery and marketing materials on 100% recycled paper
  • Partnering with J.B. Hunt intermodal transportation system to help to reduce co2 emissions versus trucking alone
  • Offering a free electric vehicle charging station at our Dallas Flagship store
